Milpitas, CA– ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure LAN solutions, announced today that Canaras Capital Management, LLC, has purchased ConSentry’s LANShield Switch to safeguard data on its corporate LAN. Canaras, an alternative asset manager specializing in credit markets, is using the ConSentry device in its headquarters office in New York City.
“As a highly regulated asset management consultancy, Canaras must prove that every user and every port are secured on our network,” said Raffi Jamgotchian, chief information officer, Canaras Capital Management. “After reviewing solutions from leading networking and security vendors, we found that we would need four different products to deploy the same security that the ConSentry LANShield Switch offers in a single platform. It also gives me very granular visibility—down to the user and application levels. We’re initially using ConSentry to secure guest admission to the network and to prevent infections from spreading, but we anticipate implementing identity-based controls in the future.”
As Canaras CIO, Jamgotchian gravitates to certain types of solutions. He not only needed to build a secure environment with a market-leading platform, but he also wanted a platform that can essentially run itself. The ability to securely segment guests is of particular importance, ensuring protection of vital assets and preventing unowned machines from spreading malware. The company’s infrastructure is very consolidated so it needed a way to easily control access to resources. ConSentry’s simple, centralized infrastructure and granular visibility and control, which Canaras found unmatched in the industry, were thus attractive to the company.
Because of the dynamic nature of Canaras’ industry, Jamgotchian needed to build a flexible, reliable, and highly available LAN. He needed his network security solution to match those demands, and the architecture of the LANShield Switch and InSight Command Center software, which provides policy configuration and LAN visibility, delivers those key features.
“The integration, simplicity, and flexibility of ConSentry’s LANShield architecture fits perfectly with the needs of Canaras,” said Tom Barsi, ConSentry Networks’ president and CEO. “It’s exciting to see our vision of embedding security and control directly into the switching infrastructure being adopted by enterprises.”
